Devotion 1: Faith and Motion are One in the Same

Devotion 1: Faith and Motion are One in the Same
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go – Joshua 1:9
I’ve struggled with this myself trying to be everything for everyone. The emotional weight of juggling schedules, commitments, and expectations pulled at my relationships especially with my family and with God. I felt guilty, like I wasn’t doing enough spiritually because I wasn’t in church every Sunday. I had mom guilt, wondering if serving in sports or traveling for tournaments meant I was failing at faith. But after talking with so many other parents going through the same thing, I realized something powerful: God is with us wherever we go. We would be remiss if we didn’t teach our children that truth. We don’t have to choose between sports and spiritual growth we can live both with purpose.
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them – Matthew 18:20
Welcome to Faith and Motion where we believe faith doesn’t sit still, and ministry doesn’t just happen in church. Whether it’s on the court, in the stands, or on the sidelines, God is moving. This space is for families, fans, and athletes who know that sports can be more than a game it can be a mission field. When we gather, even just two or three of us, we carry the presence of Christ. As our children travel, play, and grow, we send them not only with skill but with purpose. Faith goes with them in every step, every play, every moment.
The Bible strongly encourages teaching children about God and guiding them toward a relationship with Him. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. But it doesn’t stop there. Just as a uniform covers the body, spiritual covering is vital for the child and the adult. Ephesians 6:11 urges us to “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. This isn’t just preparation it’s protection. Our kids need it. So do we.
Reflection
Reflect on the ways in which you can integrate faith into your daily activities, whether at home, work, or during leisure. Consider how you can model this integration for your children, showing them that faith is a living, active part of life that accompanies them wherever they go. Think about the opportunities you have to create moments of spiritual connection and growth outside traditional settings.
Prayer
Dear Lord, guide us to carry our faith into every aspect of our lives. Help us to be strong and courageous, knowing You are with us always. Amen.
Devotional 2: Don’t Worry When You Can Pray

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7
When I was younger, I was one of five kids. My parents worked hard to provide, and often that meant deciding which games or events they could attend. Before big games, I’d get nervous not just about the outcome, but about whether my dad would be in the stands. I was a daddy’s girl, and something about his presence made everything feel more secure. Anytime I told him I was nervous, he would ask, “Why are you worried? Then he’d follow with his signature line "Don’t worry when you can pray, and don’t pray if you’re gonna worry. That stuck with me.
Philippians reminds us that worry is a weight we don’t have to carry. Prayer shifts the burden. God is in control, and when we invite Him into the pressure moments whether it’s pre-game jitters or parenting decisions He brings peace that doesn’t even make sense, but anchors us anyway.
Jesus echoes this in Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
If God takes care of the birds, how much more will He take care of us His children, created in His own image (Genesis 1:27)? When we recognize our identity in Him, we can rest in knowing that we’re not just seen, we’re cherished. Your schedule, your performance, your peace—it’s all safe in the hands of the One who made you.
Reflection
Think about the moments when fear or anxiety creeps in before a big game, a decision at home, or just trying to juggle it all. What would change if your first response was prayer instead of worry? What are you holding onto that God is inviting you to hand over to Him?
Prayer
Lord, when I feel overwhelmed, help me to pause and pray. Remind me that Your peace is greater than my pressure. Teach me to cast every care on You, and to trust that You truly care for me. Amen
Devotional 3: Let God Cook!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"
Romans 8:28
I have a sister who has been seeking clarity concerning her next job. In conversation with her husband he told her, “Let God Cook” That phrase sat with me and was like a microphone drop moment. That one phrase means God is already working. He’s in the kitchen of your life, preparing something you can’t fully see yet but it’s good. It’s seasoned with grace, provision, healing, and favor. The metaphor is simple, but powerful, God is never idle. He’s always preparing something in your life, even when you don’t feel it yet.
As traveling sports participants, we know the weight of constant motion game fees, uniforms, meals, travel, hotels, extra training, and still managing the rest of life. And just when it feels like you’ve given all you have, real life keeps showing up with bills, stress, and unexpected burdens. It’s overwhelming, and nowhere in the Bible does it say God won’t give us more than we can handle. In fact, it’s often the opposite. He allows us to carry more than we can manage so we’ll learn to hand it over to Him.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7
When life is lifting and you feel at your limits, take a deep breath and let God cook. He’s the ultimate Chef, and your situation is not forgotten. In fact, the table is already being set. He’s preparing something for you and your family that is far greater than what you could whip up on your own. Your only job is to trust Him and taste when it’s time.

Reflection
Are there areas of your life where you’re trying to do it all yourself? Are you rushing the process or doubting God’s timing? Pause and consider What would it look like to step back and let God cook? Can you trust that His recipe is perfect?
Prayer
Father, thank You for working even when I can’t see it. When life feels too heavy, help me to release control and trust that You are preparing something good. Teach me to wait with faith and to recognize Your hand in the process. Amen.
